Riding in a box car,
Just a riding through the fields...
Where the air's so warm, it hits your face
And the smell of life you feel.
I'm riding in a box car,
Just a riding til I die
Across the scenes and forgotten dreams
That in this country lie.
This morning I woke up
To the smell of that perfune
Of the country side and a big blue sky
And the early morning dew.
I'm singing in this train
Like nothing matters anyway
And the wheels keep time and I'm feeling fine
Just a riding on the way.
Just a riding in a box car,
Just a riding through the fields...
Where the air's so warm, it hits your face
And the smell of life you feel.
I'm riding in a box car,
Just a riding til I die
Across the scenes and forgotten dreams
That in this country lie.
Well, I met a girl so young and kind
At a stop along the way.
I asked her if she'd come with me
And throw it all away.
"Please tell me the reason
That you ride inside this train?"
Well she came with me
And I sang these words
And she saw it just the same.
So now we're riding in a box car,
Just a riding through the fields...
Where the air's so warm, it hits your face
And the smell of life you feel.
We're riding in a box car,
Just a riding til we die
Across the scenes and forgotten dreams
That in this country lie.
